Pu Ji Xiao Du Yin (Universal Benefit Decoction to Eliminate Toxin) is a classical formula created by Li Dong-Yuan during a severe epidemic and recorded in the Dong Yuan Shi Shu. It was originally designed for epidemic febrile disease characterized by heat toxin accumulation in the head and face - severe swelling, redness, and pain of the head, face, and throat. The formula combines wind-heat dispersing herbs (Niu Bang Zi, Bo He, Lian Qiao) with strong fire-toxin clearing agents (Huang Lian, Huang Qin) and herbs that guide the formula to the head and face (Sheng Ma, Chai Hu). Available from TCM Zone as concentrated granules in 42 individual packets.
