Syndromes

Stomach Heat with Yin Deficiency due to Stomach Fire Injuring the Kidney Yin

Clinical Manifestations

Toothache, loose teeth, bleeding gums, frontal headache, irritability, fever, thirst with a desire to drink cold beverages, epistaxis, dysphoria, excess hunger, hemoptysis, dry throat, hematemesis, restlessness, night sweats, warm sensations.

Tongue: Red and dry
Coating: White or Yellow and dry
Pulse: Superficial, full, slippery, deficient and large or Gigantic and rapid or Rapid

Herbs and Actions

Shi Gao (Gypsum Fibrosum): Clears Fire from the Stomach, relieves irritability, fever and thirst and is specific for toothache due to Stomach Fire. With Zhi Mu, for high fever from Wind-Heat or Qi Stage Heat or Yang Ming Heat with irritability and extreme thirst and epidemic diseases. With Shu Di Huang, for headache, toothache, and thirst due to raging fire caused by devastated Yin.

Shu Di Huang (Rx. Rehmanniae Preparata): Nourishes Kidney Yin to cool Stomach Fire.

Zhi Mu (Rz. Anemarrhenae): Clears Heat from the Qi Stage, from the Lungs and from the Stomach, nourishes Yin, moistens Dryness, Generates Fluids, clears Deficiency Fire and quenches thirst. With Shi Gao, clears Heat from the Stomach and nourishes Yin.

Mai Men Dong (Tub. Ophiopogonis): Nourishes Yin in the Upper and Middle Jiaos, moistens the Stomach, generates fluids and alleviates irritability.

Niu Xi (Rx. Achyranthis Bidentatae): Conducts Heat downward and stops bleeding in the mouth.
