This classical formula dates back to the Ming dynasty, and is considered one of the two most important prescriptions for tonifying Kidney Yang. "Returning the right" refers to the right, or Yang, Kidney. It supports Kidney Yang and Yin, thereby strengthening Kidney Qi. In modern clinical practice in China, it is often preferred to Jin Gui Shen Qi Wan for lumbar weakness, while Jin Gui is preferred for cold patterns with urinary disturbance. Contraindications: Rehmannia Shu Di Huang, a relatively greasy herb, can aggravate phlegm and food stasis, causing bloating, nausea, or loose stools. Discontinue use during colds and flu.
