Olibanum Boswellia carterii
Ru Xiang (Frankincense) is tapped from the hardy Boswellia trees by stripping the bark and allowing the resin to bleed out and harden. From this hardened resin Ru Xiang essential oil is extracted by CO2. The oil has a rich, balsamic aroma that is both soothing and invigorating as it relaxes the diaphragm and deepens the breath. Its affinity is to heart, liver and spleen meridians, and its main functions are to invigorate blood, relax sinews, smooth the movement of blood and Qi, ease pain and lift the spirit. Ru Xiang is also an anti-oxidant, and like all essential oils is easy to use, fast acting and cost effective.
Common Uses
* For pain due to blood from traumatic injury, early stage toxic sores, carbuncles and swellings and blood stasis with chest, epigastric or abdominal pain.
* Used topically as an ointment or powder to reduce swelling, generate flesh, alleviate pain and promote healing of sores, carbuncles, and traumatic injury.
* For pain, redness and swelling of mouth, gums and throat.
* For Wind-Damp-Bi with rigidity and spasms
Major known chemical constituents: Monoterpenes (pinene,dipentene~40% from Yuen Materia Medica), D- camphene 80% (from Guangzhou extractor analysis)
