What is Bi Syndrome?

In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), Bi Syndrome isn't classified as a disease in the Western medical sense but rather a diagnosis characterized by pain, stiffness, and swelling in the muscles, joints, and bones. The symptoms of Bi Syndrome can vary and may include:

- External Factors: Exposure to cold and damp environments.
- Internal Factors: Poor diet, emotional stress, or a weakened immune system.
- Injury or Trauma: Muscle strains, sprains, or fractures.
- Chronic Conditions: Osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, or fibromyalgia.
- Symptoms: Stiffness, swelling, and limited mobility. Stagnation can lead to fluid accumulation and cyst formation.
- Sciatica: Bi Syndrome combined with sciatica can cause significant discomfort, with symptoms including lower back pain, hip pain, and leg pain, often leading to difficulty standing or walking. Sciatica may be associated with Kidney Qi deficiency and can be exacerbated by Bi Syndrome.

Viral infections can contribute to Bi Syndrome by weakening the immune system and causing Qi (vital energy) stagnation, making the body more susceptible to cold and damp conditions, which intensify the painful symptoms.
