Stop Coughing Powder: transforms phlegm, stops coughing, releases the exterior, and diffuses the Lungs for Wind-Cold cough.
Zhi Sou San (Stop Coughing Powder) is a classical formula for transforming phlegm, stopping cough, releasing the exterior, and diffusing the Lungs. Recorded in the Yi Xue Xin Wu (Medical Revelations), this 7-herb formula is the standard prescription for externally contracted Wind-Cold fettering the Lungs, producing persistent cough that may linger after the acute exterior stage has resolved.
- Jie Geng opens the Lungs and directs the formula upward; Jing Jie releases the exterior and dispels Wind; Zi Wan, Bai Bu, and Bai Qian transform phlegm, stop cough, and descend rebellious Lung Qi
- Chen Pi regulates Qi and dries Dampness to reduce phlegm; Zhi Gan Cao moderates and harmonizes
- Traditionally used for cough with or without slight chills and fever, itchy throat, difficult-to-expectorate phlegm, and thin white tongue fur
- Applicable in upper respiratory tract infection, acute bronchitis, chronic bronchitis, pertussis, and early-stage viral or mycoplasmic pneumonia
ActiveHerb Zhi Sou San Granules are produced as a 5:1 whole-formula co-extract. Suited for licensed practitioners managing Wind-Cold Lung fettering presentations, whether in the acute stage or as a lingering post-illness cough.
