Mai Men Dong Tang (Ophiopogon Decoction) is a classical formula from Zhang Zhong-Jing’s Jin Gui Yao Lue. It addresses Lung and Stomach yin deficiency with rebellious qi, presenting with a persistent dry cough or the sensation of qi rushing upward. The large dose of Mai Men Dong (ophiopogon) moistens the Lung and Stomach and generates fluids, while Ban Xia (pinellia) in a small dose descends rebellious qi without drying, and Ren Shen, Jing Mi, Da Zao, and Gan Cao support the Stomach and middle burner. This 100g bulk concentrated granule format is ideal for practitioners who customize dosing.
TCM actions include:
- Benefits the Stomach and nourishes Lung yin
- Generates fluids
- Directs rebellious qi downward
For use under the guidance of a licensed TCM practitioner.
