"This formula consists of those herbs which comprise Six-Ingredient Pill with Rehmannia (liu wei di huang wan), plus others that warm the yang. These additions help regulate the relationship between the yin and yang, thereby strengthening the Kidney qi. Properties: Supports the health of the kidneys, legs, lower back, and upper respiratory tract. This formula may be effective in treating side effects and adverse reactions, including dizziness, weight gain, perspiration and emotional disturbances associated with long-term prednisone use.
Actions: Warms and tonifies Kidney Yang.
Pattern: Kidney Yang Deficiency; Jin Ye Stasis; Atrophy disorder (Wei Syndrome) due to Liver and Kidney Deficiency
Chinese Symptomology: Lower back pain, weakness of the lower extremities, a cold sensation in the lower half of the body, tenseness in the lower abdomen. The patient may also be irritable to the point of having difficulty lying dowm, and will breathe most comfortable while leaning against something. Contraindications: Contraindicated for those with Yin Deficiency with dry mouth and throat and a red tongue with no coat. Use with caution for those with gastrointestinal weakness. Contraindicated for those with marked ascites. Contraindicated for those with frequent diarrhea. Contraindicated for those with facial flushing with fever. Contraindicated during pregnancy.
