This formula is a slight modification of Sun Si-maio’s famous formula of this name found in his Tang dynasty Qian Jin Yao Fang (Essential Formulas [worth a] Thousand [Pieces of] Gold) published in 652 CE.

Pattern: Enduring wind damp cold impediment complicated by liver kidney dual vacuity and qi and blood insufficiency
Chinese Symptomology: weak or sore knees; pain in the lower back; limited movement; soreness and weakness in tendons and joints; weather-related pain.
Contraindications: Damp heat impediment
